I also value cultural inclusivity in play. I include diverse stories, resources, and perspectives—especially those of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples—to help children show respect for Country, culture, and community from an early age.

Diploma in Early childhood education and care:

I believe children thrive when they have a sense of belonging to the environment and people around them. Children need to be celebrated as individuals and be able to express themselves in a safe and supportive environment where they can “just be”.

I believe that play-based learning is the best way for children to explore ideas and concepts, I also believe in the idea that children’s learning is best achieved through social constructivism.

I believe that our nurturing environment built from trusting and positive partnerships allows children to feel comfortable and thrive within our service. I also believe that it is important for children to participate in nature and risky play to gain an understanding from their surroundings and form a connection with their environment.

As an educator at Bundilla, I believe in promoting an environment that prioritizes empathy, patience, and genuine connection with each child. Each and every interaction is an opportunity for growth, not only for the children but also for myself as an educator. For myself, it is a privilege to play such a role in shaping young minds and creating a safe, inclusive space where each child feels valued and empowered to explore to their full potential.

I believe that it is important to build strong and independent learners with the support of families, educators, and the community. I believe it is important to have a secure and trusting bond with each child as they should be treated as individuals. The children are  unique with different interests, backgrounds, and developmental stages, Children should be given opportunities, choices, and responsibilities to initiate and take ownership of their own learning.

Connection

Community

Educators encourage involvement from the wider community to ensure children can experience a sense of belonging. Community participation is valued and embedded within the children’s environment, with meaningful interactions, contributions to the local Neighbourhood and creating opportunities for shared experiences. Educators will ensure they show an understanding of each child, their family, culture, and the community around them. Educators value learning as a social experience and support collaborative and community input and participation.

Bold adventures

Bundilla Bold Adventures is a nature experience where the children in our Banksia room venture out from preschool into two different naturescapes within walking distance of Bundilla. These environments allow the children to challenge themselves in an outdoor space that is separate from a classroom environment providing them the opportunity to learn and understand boundaries, risks, adventure, independence, and sense of agency.

Special events

We pride ourselves on our special events and engagement with our families. These are ongoing events that occur throughout the year that align with not only Bundilla's, but also our families beliefs, traditions, celebrations and interests.

School readiness

School readiness

School readiness

Our aim with our school readiness and transition program is to ensure that our children and our families are prepared for the changes ahead which will lay the foundation for a positive transition.

Our preschool program focuses on the following areas:

  • Cognitive skills
  • Language skills
  • Social and emotional skills
  • Physical skills (which include fine and gross motor skills and strength)

As well as our day to day activities aimed at promoting school readiness, we also focus on school transition activities for our children heading to school in the following year.

Graduation

School readiness

School readiness

Our children who head off to school are celebrated with a meaningful child centred graduation.

We feel this graduation style allows our children to feel a sense of confidence while experiencing their achievements and new adventures in a safe and less overwhelmed environment.

Our children receive a handmade personalised graduation shirt made by Kathleen, a graduation cookie, connection bracelet and certificate. Our families receive photos and a video of their child.

Our graduation is done individually and not as a group.
