I believe children thrive when they have a sense of belonging to the environment and people around them. Children need to be celebrated as individuals and be able to express themselves in a safe and supportive environment where they can “just be”.

As an early childhood educator, I believe play is the most natural and powerful way for young children to learn. Through play, children explore the world, build relationships, and begin to understand new ideas in a way that makes sense to them.

I also value cultural inclusivity in play. I include diverse stories, resources, and perspectives—especially those of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples—to help children show respect for Country, culture, and community from an early age.

I believe that all children are capable, unique and creative beings who require facilitated learning and developmental experiences. I believe these experiences are better for the child when they are play-based, child-centred and child lead. I will strive to ensure all learning experiences are based on children's interests, strengths and allow them the opportunity to make decisions that will impact their own development.

As an educator at Bundilla, I believe in promoting an environment that prioritizes empathy, patience, and genuine connection with each child. Each and every interaction is an opportunity for growth, not only for the children but also for myself as an educator. For myself, it is a privilege to play such a role in shaping young minds and creating a safe, inclusive space where each child feels valued and empowered to explore to their full potential.

Connection

Community

We believe children develop a strong sense of belonging when they feel connected not only to our preschool, but also to the wider community around them.

At Bundilla, we intentionally create opportunities for children, families and community members to build meaningful relationships and share experiences together. We value community partnerships and encourage active participation, recognising that every interaction enriches children's learning and strengthens their connection to the world around them.

Our educators take the time to know each child and family, respecting their culture, identity, strengths and experiences. This understanding allows us to create authentic learning opportunities that reflect the diverse community we are part of.

We view learning as a shared journey. By working collaboratively with families, local organisations and our broader community, we provide children with rich, real-world experiences that foster curiosity, confidence, inclusion and a genuine sense of belonging.

Bold adventures

Bundilla Bold Adventures is a nature experience where the children in our Banksia room venture out from preschool into two different naturescapes within walking distance of Bundilla. These environments allow the children to challenge themselves in an outdoor space that is separate from a classroom environment providing them the opportunity to learn and understand boundaries, risks, adventure, independence, and sense of agency.

Special events

We value creating meaningful opportunities for children, families and educators to connect, celebrate and build lasting relationships throughout the year.

Our calendar of special events is thoughtfully planned to reflect not only Bundilla's values and philosophy, but also the cultures, traditions, celebrations, interests and experiences of the children and families within our community. We recognise that every family is unique, and we strive to create inclusive experiences where everyone feels welcomed, respected and a genuine sense of belonging.

While many of our events have become treasured Bundilla traditions, we continually reflect on and adapt our celebrations based on family input, children's interests and our evolving community. This ensures our events remain authentic, purposeful and centred around the people who make Bundilla the special place it is.

School readiness

School readiness

School readiness

Our priority is to nurture children who are confident, resilient and emotionally secure, as these are the foundations for lifelong learning.

Our goal is to ensure both children and their families feel prepared, supported and excited about the transition to school. We want every child to leave Bundilla feeling confident to separate from their family, build new friendships, communicate their thoughts and feelings, ask questions, seek help when needed and embrace new learning experiences with confidence.

Our preschool program intentionally supports children's development across all areas, with a strong focus on:

  • Social and emotional wellbeing
  • Confidence, resilience and independence
  • Communication and language skills
  • Positive relationships and social skills
  • Physical development, including fine and gross motor skills
  • Cognitive development and early learning concepts

While early literacy and numeracy are naturally embedded throughout our play-based program, we believe these skills develop most successfully when children first feel safe, connected and confident within their learning environment.

Throughout the year, children who will be transitioning to school the following year also participate in a range of intentional transition experiences. These opportunities help children become familiar with school routines, develop independence, build confidence and prepare for the exciting next step in their learning journey.

Our aim is for every child to transition to school feeling capable, confident and ready to thrive.

Graduation

School readiness

School readiness

At Bundilla, our graduation celebration is always child-centred.

Each year, we reflect on what will best support the children in our care, understanding that every cohort is different. While our graduation may look slightly different from year to year, our philosophy remains the same—we prioritise children's wellbeing, confidence and sense of belonging above all else.

Rather than focusing on a large group ceremony, we celebrate each child as an individual in a way that feels safe, meaningful and comfortable for them. We want every child to feel proud of their achievements and excited about their next adventure, without the pressure or overwhelm that can sometimes accompany larger events.

Each child is recognised for their unique journey at Bundilla. Families receive special keepsakes to celebrate this milestone, which may include personalised gifts, certificates, photographs and videos that capture this important moment.

Our graduation is more than a celebration of finishing preschool, it is a celebration of each child's growth, their individuality, the relationships they have built, and the confidence they have developed as they prepare for their transition to school.
